“Dad, even though you’re our father, I’ve been the one taking care of Lucinda since our mother passed away. I hope we can discuss her marriage together.”
Only Graham could handle Lucinda.
Atticus didn’t agree, but he didn’t directly refuse either. He simply said, “Let’s have dinner first. You can speak with Nathan after dinner.”
“Okay.”
They began to eat.
A heavy silence fell over the room as everyone ate.
When they were done eating, Florrie wheeled Atticus upstairs to watch the TV show, leaving Graham, his wife Violeta, Hilliard, Cyrus, Nathan, and Lucinda in the Living room.
Sensing Graham’s lingering anger, Lucinda hesitated to take a seat.
She and Nathan just stood to the side.
Graham sat rigidly in the middle of the sofa with an intimidating look.

Violeta sat beside him, while Hilliard and Cyrus occupied the sofas on either side.

Lucinda’s heart raced with anxiety as she lowered her head, feeling suffocated by the mounting pressure. Nathan held her sweaty palm tightly, providing a comforting sense of security.
After a few tense minutes, Graham spoke up, his voice brimming with anger.
“Well done, Lucinda Simmons! What a surprise! Should I break your hands or your legs? Take your pick!”
Lucinda’s heart skipped a beat, and before she could respond, Cyrus intervened, “Graham, be careful. She’s now pregnant. You can’t hit her. She’s carrying twins, remember?”
“It’s all Nathan’s fault. You should break his legs first,” Hilliard chimed in.
Violeta nodded in agreement.
Graham shot a sidelong glance at Nathan before turning his attention to Lucinda.
“Let’s settle our accounts, shall we? You kept this from me until now and even announced it today in our father’s presence. Do you think I will do nothing just because our father is here?”
Lucinda bit her lower lip and kept her head down, unable to meet Graham’s gaze.
“Graham, she’s pregnant with twins!” Cyrus reminded, trying to diffuse the tension.
Graham scowled at him.
“I know! If you should interrupt me again, I’ll deal with you first!”
